SCHOOL OPENS IN MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

a TOUCH OF LOVE FOUNDATION NEWS
We have waited 22 months to tell you this: normal school opened in all the schools for the first time since 26 March 2020.  In Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra we have been supplying tutors and teachers for outdoor teaching hoping the pandemic would lessen one day.  The school board waited until after Diwali this November. For us that meant 240 children needed school uniforms and notebooks. Of course, they all had to be measured as so much time had gone by and hopefully they had all grown!
We have paid for all the uniforms and notebooks and they are being ordered as we write this newsletter. The children had school supplies from our tutoring classes so they were ready for class right away. You can’t walk into a store in a small town and walk out with 240 uniforms of very specific sizes. Remember that all these students have medical backup from our doctor to keep them and their families healthy for free. The two poorest village schools get breakfast and lunch from us every school day. We started this during tutoring to bring up the health level of the children. Since we started food twice a day the teachers say attendance has been 100%.
